The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is the newest can’t-miss hotel in a city filled with fantastic hotels.

Location

Perhaps the most important street in all of Bangkok, a city roughly the population of Los Angeles, is Sukhumvit. Streets and neighborhoods branch off of Sukhumvit (the elevated Bangkok metro, the BTS also runs along the street), each street (soi) numbered with odds on one side and evens on the other.

This property is located off the very popular ex-pat neighborhood “Nana” with a BTS stop of the same name, near soi 13. This is exactly where any visitor to the city wants to be.

Address: 1 Sukhumvit Soi 13 Rd, Khlong Toei Nuea, Khet Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand

Property

The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit operates in a new high rise tower. Reception is on the ground floor with large glass windows and a private driveway for arriving guests. As is customary in Thailand, welcome drinks and cold wet towels refresh guests upon arrival. During our stay, the lounge wasn’t open at the time (it is now) where check-in for elites would take place.

The property features one of the premier rooftop bars in all of Bangkok, stiff competition. While the General Manager allowed me to view the stunning space, it wasn’t photo-ready when I visited. Here is a link to see the images now that it’s open.

As with any hotel in Thailand, a stunning pool is standard. Off the fifth floor of the hotel, a fitness center, and pool deck entertain guests. There is a pool bar with an abbreviated menu that includes both entrees and snacks.

Suite

Due to my World of Hyatt Globalist status, my family was upgraded to a suite. Upon entering the suite, a guest bathroom is available to the left before opening to the living room.

Living Room

Within the living room, couches and chairs allow for a family of four to comfortably relax. In the far corner of the room was a desk, a welcome amenity of fresh fruit was waiting for us when we arrived. A large TV is opposite the couches, to the left was a small mini-fridge, countertop, and bar area, in between was the doorway to the bedroom.

Bedroom

Moving through the pocket doors to the bedroom gave an excellent sense of privacy. Floor-to-ceiling windows lit the room in the mornings and the city lights glittered in the evening. Another TV was in the corner of the room amidst a king bed and a closet in the corner with a dresser.

Bathroom

The showstopper of the suite was the bathroom. An all-glass room, the bathroom was outfitted with the highest levels of design and materials. Privacy shades can be drawn electronically.

A deep soaking tub at the window’s edge creates a surreal experience for guests taking a bubble bath. The shower was very large and the water closet at the far end the bathroom used shaded glass. Dual vanity with large, bright, border lit mirrors completed the room.

World of Hyatt Service and Benefits

As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I enjoyed complimentary breakfast, afternoon canapes, lounge access, late checkout, bonus points, and an upgrade to a suite.

The Hyatt Regency line is traditionally a business hotel and its Bangkok Sukhumvit location fits that profile with the added touch of a tropical destination. Breakfast and afternoon canapes are held in the 27th-floor executive lounge, it was not open during my stay (as I was there for a soft opening of the hotel.) As such, I will share images of the Market restaurant which is available for guests and visitors though not complimentary.

Value

The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit is a little high for the market but a steal for most Americans or Europeans visiting. Average costs range between $140-170/nt. Compared to other hotels from major chains in the area, the Hyatt is around the same price but the property is far newer.

For World of Hyatt members, the property is a Category 4 (which makes it eligible for World of Hyatt credit card certificates.) Award nights cost 12,000/nt for a standard room. This provides a value of 1.1¢ to 1.4¢/point, well below Suites and Lobbies valuation of 2¢/point. World of Hyatt members should spend cash for their stay. Globalists find even more value with added perks like breakfast.

What do you think? Have you stayed at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit? How was your experience?
