Le Meridien Bangkok lobby

Le Meridien Bangkok

One of my favorite hotels is the world-class Le Meridien Bangkok. We featured the hotel as a bonus selection on our Bangkok budget hotels post because it’s surprisingly affordable. The property is perfect for business meetings with high-end cuisine, a cool and sophisticated bar and the Patpong night market across the street.

Guest rooms are finished to a high specification, welcoming to an international crowd with a French touch. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide sweeping views of the Thai capital with a convenient location near the central business district. Le Meridien is a member of the Marriott chain. Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and burn points at the property starting at 25,000 points per night or $100-120/night.

JW Marriott

Located at the top of busy Sukhumvit Road and convenient for taxis from the airport, the JW Marriott is the epitome of a high-rise business hotel. Positioned near “Soi Arab”, the hotel offers quick connections throughout the busy city center and some of the best street food in town.

As the flagship of the Marriott brand and one of the city’s luxury hotels, the property competes with the Mandarin Oriental Bangkok with one distinct advantage. Its location is far superior for business meetings especially with proximity to Sukhumvit and Wireless Rd, as opposed to the Mardarin’s Chao Phraya River location further from business meetings. Access to Lumphini park is a short ride away in a taxi or tuk tuk.

The JW, however, is in need of an update. The high ceilings of the lobby are beautiful, but an update to the property could re-establish the property among the top hotels/resorts in the city. It’s a solid business hotel with great service for professionals, but is in need of some technological advancements.

Marriott Bonvoy members can earn and burn points at the JW, elites may have access to the club lounge for breakfast, snacks throughout the day and canapes and cocktails in the evenings.

Rates start at $140/night.

Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel

Tall and sleek, the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel rises from the Chit Lom area of the Sukhumvit in central Bangkok. Stunning, professional accommodations are expected at the award winning Renaissance hotels but one aspect in particular makes this property especially unique.

On the top levels of the hotel (though not on the rooftop) an indoor-outdoor swimming pool and fitness center is unlike any other in the city. Due to the hot climate of Bangkok, most swimming pools in the city are not heated – there’s no need – but not every day reaches balmy temperatures and some pools in the city are down right frigid and unswimmable. It also allows guests to swim and enjoy the view from high above the city.

The Renaissance offers guest rooms with a bathroom suite that includes both a soaking tub, a separate rainfall glass shower, and water closet. In addition to good transportation links, the hotel benefits from excellent in-house restaurants, room service 24 hours daily, a business center, and bars for meeting clients and colleagues.

The hotel is part of the Marriott family, allowing Marriott Bonvoy members to earn and burn their points. For those with Bonvoy points booking an award stay, rooms can be secured for as little as 20,000 points nightly or cash rates of $120/nt.

Grand Hyatt Erawan

Long the sole representation of the Hyatt brand in Bangkok, the Grand Hyatt Erawan is perfectly located for business people visiting the city. In the heart of the city, the Grand Hyatt offers superb business services for guests including a club lounge for Hyatt elites or those purchasing club rooms.

The property is located outside of Erawan temple, one of the oldest in the city, the fragrance of fresh flowers and incense greet guests as they walk into reception. It adds a cultural element unique to any other property in the city.

Each room features shaded glass windows with views of central Bangkok, a large desk, with suites providing separation between private personal areas and the public living room for welcoming guests, clients or vendors.

In addition to the services available for business people (including business centers, concierge staff, and several restaurants throughout the property) the Grand Hyatt also offers a number of leisure benefits. Visitors can enjoy the hot tub and pool on the fifth floor as well as private massage studios and a fitness center.

For those extending their stay, they may also consider moving to a pool villa, private self-contained huts on the pool deck that have separated living rooms, bedrooms, equally-large bathrooms and a massage room where spa staff can come work without guests leaving their residences.

Rates have historically ranged between $160-200/nt. Wolrd of Hyatt members can earn and burn points at the property, Globalists may secure a suite upon availability – villas excluded.

Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit

The elegant French touch of the Sofitel offers sophistication and refinement in the middle of busy Sukhumvit. From check-in, the bell staff give the experience of a quality five star hotel. The lobby of the hotel hosts an art gallery with featured local artists. Also on the main level is a coffee shop, macaron store and cafe as well as a bar.

Bedroom suites climb high over the central business area of the city. Elegant glass desks, elaborate bathrooms, and comfortable beds await weary travelers from across the world. Closets stocked with slippers and robes. In the bathroom guests will find Salvatore Ferragamo toiletries, separated water closets, soaking tubs, and large glass showers.

The coup d’resistance is Le Apartment, the top floor French restaurant modeled after a private residence. Traveling business people will enjoy the upscale yet casual nature of the environment where a chefs table is available in the kitchen, or guests can dine in any number of themed rooms throughout. The wrap around restaurant has views of the city from every seat and outdoor seating as well from 30 stories above the street.

Rooms are available from $120, Accor members can earn and burn points at the property as well.

Top 5 Unique Business Hotels in Bangkok

It’s difficult to narrow the list of top 5 unique business hotels in Bangkok to just the ones we’ve listed. With properties like the Mandarin Oriental, St. Regis, Waldorf-Astoria, and Park Hyatt it’s important to parse out luxury properties from those who serve business travelers best. Without a doubt, there are many more that could have been included on this list.
