The brand new Park Hyatt Shenzhen exceeds expectations and provides stunning luxury.

Location

Certainly in the premium district of Shenzhen, peer hotels within three blocks include the Ritz-Carlton, Shangri-La, and the Four Seasons. The property is on Fuhua road, close to a convenient metro stop near the convention center. For clarity, the hotel is located more than 20 floors above the ground in a high rise tower. A small greeting area with bell staff is on the ground floor while the hotel reception is many floors above via express elevator.

Property

The lobby is serene, a high design space. Dark wood, well-placed lights, and serene artwork usher guests away from the busy streets below. Simple podiums among a couple of couches and chairs serve as reception guests, some may be checked in within their suites.

A cavernous restaurant is off the lobby with big windows that fill the double height ceilings with light by day and the glittering city lights by night.

Suite

As a World of Hyatt Globalist member, I was upgraded to a very large suite. Upon entering, a guest bathroom is available for visitors to the right.

Living Room

The living room consists of double chambers. The first is an L-shaped couch, chair, TV, and coffee tables. Beyond the first chamber is a dining area at the window. A welcome letter awaited me there along with fresh fruit. To the right side was an expansive mini-bar.

The room opened up to a guest bathroom at the entrance. It was followed by a two-chamber living room, the first with a TV, chairs and a couch (as well as my glass-encased welcome amenity.) The second chamber with floor-to-ceiling glass, consisted of a dining room table, the mini-bar, and a welcome note from hotel management.

Bedroom

Separated by a closed door, the bedroom is tucked away in the back of the room. A comfortable bed with plush sheets is centered in the room opposite the TV with large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Shenzhen to the left.

Bathroom

The master bathroom suite is covered in marble. The shower is very large and features both a rain shower head and a wand. The toiletries are provided by the extreme luxury brand, Le Labo. The $120 shampoo bottles are a larger version of the bottles left in the shower, but the quality and chemistry is the same. I may have adopted a few before returning home.

At the far end of the master bathroom suite is a large soaking tub wih a TV built into the wall. Between the shower and tub is a dual vanity and large mirror.

The water closet was a separate room featuring a deluxe Japanese bidet toilet seat. In addition to the comfort the heated seat and dryer provides, this illuminated toilet seat comes with a remote and costs $4,000 alone.

World of Hyatt Service and Benefits

As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I enjoyed complimentary breakfast, afternoon canapes, lounge access, late checkout, bonus points, and an upgrade to a suite.

Breakfast in the lounge was standard for Asian hotels, a tremendous upgrade when compared with US counterparts. Fresh vegetables, charcuterie, salad, bread and pastries, and hot items both on the buffet and from a limited menu are available daily. In the evenings, hot and cold items as well as soft drinks, beer, and liquor are available from 4-7 pm.

I utilized the breakfast buffet in the restaurant during my stay as well. The open kitchen design creates such an interesting dynamic between guests and chefs. The buffet had everything, pastries, fresh fruit, salad, hot items, charcuterie, and cold-pressed juices. But the star of the show was the noodle station and it was executed perfectly.

As a World of Hyatt Globalist, I was treated to perhaps the most deluxe welcome amenity I have received anywhere. It’s less so the blueberry tart (perfectly executed) and more the glass and bronze case in which it was presented.

Value

The Park Hyatt Shenzhen offers exceptional luxury for reasonable prices. This is certainly one of the nicest Park Hyatts in the world. Average costs range between $220-250/nt. The cash price for this hotel is excellent, especially for Globalists.

For World of Hyatt members, the property is a Category 5. Award nights cost 20,000/nt for a standard room. This provides a value of 0.67¢ to 1.0¢/point, well below Suites and Lobbies valuation of 2¢/point. World of Hyatt members should spend cash for their stay. Globalists find even more value with added perks like breakfast.
